Back side garden, with the property's grapes and fig-tree. Grapes are luckily not for making wine, but for your fruit platter in september/october. The figs however, is eatable during two periods of the year: late June and late September. We really enjoy them a lot, maybe you are lucky as well?

The village Gabian. With the majestic Cevennes and natural reserve of the High Languedoc to the North, Gabian is the gateway southwards through the wine growing plains stretching to Pézenas and the Mediterranean beyond. In the crook of two rivers, in the fold of a valley, in the middle of Languedoc, Gabian is a small village of around 700 inhabitants.
Pezenas - only 15 minutes drive from Villa Gabian - is without doubt the most beautiful town in Languedoc, if not the whole of South France. I maybe biased because Pezenas is my local town, but it is without doubt a great place to visit in France if you are on vacation. The best time to visit Pezenas is in the height of summer during the regular Friday night Estivale when all the shops in Pezenas stay open late, local vineyards are selling their wine on the streets and the old town is buzzing with life.
In Villa Gabain, you will find two more or less identical bathrooms. Delicately renovated, with up to date solutions and equipment. Each of the two bathrooms has toilet, shower, washbasin and an electrical towel rail. Practical and nice.
Cap d'Agde is the seaside resort of the town of Agde, known for it naturist beaches. One of the largest leisure ports on the French Mediterranean, development as a tourist resort started in the 1960s before which the only buildings at the Cap were small houses typically used for weekends by locals. The area was planned by architect Jean Le Couteur as part of one of the largest state-run development schemes.
Montpellier attracts high volumes of tourists and business professionals each year. The destination is very popular with both domestic and international visitors. The 31 municipalities of the Montpellier Metropolis are filled with unexpected treasures: mazes of streets, talented craftsmen, historical buildings, majestic landscapes… Could be worth the trip?
The village of Rojuan houses the nearest supermarket, if you prefere to make all your shopping in one place. But you may also visit a few, but really nice restaurants in Rojuan. Our favourit beeing Lou Baralet.
The Languedoc region gives spectacular views, among them the famous Canal Du Midi. Could be worth spending a day there.
The Canal du Midi is a 241 km long canal in Southern France. It was originally named the Canal royal en Languedoc but the French revolutionaries renamed it to Canal du Midi in 1789. It was considered at the time to be one of the greatest construction works of the 17th century.

The house is located in the quiet village of Gabian, which is surrounded by vineyards on all sides. The area is green and from the house's terrace, you have great views of the Chateau de Cassan. The people of Gabian are friendly, interested and attentive. In Gabian you may buy bread at the local bakery, do minor shopping at the grocery store or enjoy a refreshing drink in one of the village's two bars. The slightly larger town of Roujan is a 5 minute car ride away. There you can Do your shopping in the Super-U and enjoy lunch or dinner in the restaurants. The artistic Pézenas is 15 minutes away by car and it is really a city that is worth the visit. Here you find charm galore and you find everything you need as a tourist.
In Languedoc, there are many things to do. The larger towns of Beziers, Narbonne and Montpellier are in close proximity. Canal du Midi is popping up where you least expect it, and vineyards and caves with great tasting you find everywhere. Villa Gabian is perfect as a base for cycling, both if you prefere terrains or riding along the roads.
